Our most popular core beer that sums up our passion at Cellar Head. This pale ale perfectly showcases the quality and diversity of British and internationally grown hops and their unique characteristics. Maris Otter and Vienna give the light malt base to our monthly changing beer.

Malts: Maris Otter, Vienna
Hops: Changes regularly. See below...

Unopened, these keep for up to 4 months. Once opened, if kept cool and sealed in between servings, they last for up to 10 days... if you don't drink it sooner of course!

Ross Hukin’s award winning Challenger variety gives an intense spicy, cedar aroma and is perfect for dynamic hoppy beers.  Challenger is an excellent all-round hop which provides a refreshing full-bodied rounded bitterness as well as a very crisp and fruity character.

Bullion used to be grown in vast quantities and was a firm favourite with Guinness in its day. But times changed, and Bullion was all but forgotten for decades.  Luckily our good friends at Hukins Hops near Tenterden, decided to revive Bullion and we are very grateful they did. Clear 'New World' characteristics produce a zesty, spicy flavour with predominantly dark red fruit notes.

Ross Hukins is the fourth generation of his family to grow award-winning hops at Haffenden Farms in the Weald of Kent. A late harvest hop, UK grown Cascade has Intense but rounded citrus peel, orange, tangerine, floral, pine and lychee aromas.  We are really excited to see how this performs as a green hop.

Endeavour is a new wonderfully citrusy hop that is creating quite a stir in the brewing world. A cross between Cascade and a humble hedgerow hop, it has complex blackcurrant, loganberry and spice notes best describe Endeavour’s aroma, with wonderful grapefruit and lime flavours.

A modern English resurrected after being dismissed in the 1950s due to its “strong, coarse, American aroma”!  It has clear “New World” characteristics producing a complex flavour with predominantly fruity notes, especially juicy apricot, citrus and spice and a bitterness that increases as you drink leaving a peachy aftertaste.

The Godfather of English hops, this hop has historically been used as a bittering hop in the copper but it has a delicate, minty, grassy, slightly floral aroma that produces a clean, refreshing, full-bodied flavour. Arise, Sir Fuggle!

A new modern English hop with complex bitterness with tropical fruit notes.  We have also dry hopped this beer to draw out the tropical fruit flavours and aromas including passionfruit, peach and pineapple.  This dry hopping means a hazier Single Hop Pale that you might come to expect from us but it's worth it!

Began life as part of the Charles Faram Hop Development Programme as a seedling of the popular American hop, Cascade. It brings distinct flavour and aroma qualities quite different to that of traditional English hop varieties.  These unique characteristics include forward and robust notes of tropical fruits, grapefruit and blackcurrant and even hints of lychee.

A new trial hop, officially still called CF169, from the Charles Faram Hop Development Programme, but with the working name of Mozart.  It is as absolute stunner and really does give a symphony of citrusy aromas.  We think this hop is going to make waves and we're excited to be one of the first to try it.  Make sure you are too!

Mystic is a daughter of the hugely popular hop Jester. With citrus, blackcurrant and passion fruit flavours, Mystic is a great flavour and aroma hop.

Flavour notes including spicy, fresh, pine, floral and berry; the berry in particular being effective in Mild, Old Ale and Barley Wine. A slightly richer flavour than Challenger although quite similar in many other ways.

This hop is our worst kept secret!  We have won green hop awards with it every year and we LOVE it!  This exclusive experimental and, as yet unnamed, variety from Ian Strang's Kent hop farm has aromas of orange fruit and coconut and is truly unique.

Fantastic variety of beers served up by staff who love what they do.

Great beer and service. The shop is excellent to take some of the beer home. I recommend the Flapjack.
